C Reactive Protein

What is c reactive protein (CRP)? It is a type of protein found in the blood stream. A test called CRP test measures the amount of inflammation. CRP levels get elevated when a person has an infection or has had chronic illnesses but this test does not show where the source of inflammation is located at.
According to studies, it is believed that CRP plays a role in the “initiation and progression of heart disease. According to WebMd, “A special type of CRP test (hs-CRP) may be done to find out is you have an increased chance of having a heart problem, such as a heart attack” They go on to add that, “inflammation can change the inner lining of the arteries and make having a heart attack more likely.” The CRP blood test is done just like any other blood draw and there is no specific preparation for it. You may want to discuss with your Doctor to see if you are a candidate for this test. An elevated crp level indicates you have an infection some where in your body.
Heart Attacks are the number one killer in America. Make it your goal in life to prevent a heart attack in the future. Start paying attention to your daily habits such as diet, exercise, stress, smoking, alcohol, and drugs. Practicing good habits on an ongoing basis will help you lead a future healthy life.
