Cholesterol Numbers / Cholesterol levels - Desirable

  • Total Cholesterol < 200 mg/dL (5.2 mmol/L))
  • LDL Cholesterol < 100 mg/dL (2.6 mmol/L
  • HDL Cholesterol > 40 mg/dL (1.0 mmol/L)
  • Triglycerides < 150 mg/dL (1.7 mmol/L)



    These numbers are considered High

  • Total Cholesterol > 240 mg/dL (6.2 mmol/L)
  • LDL Cholesterol > 160 mg/dL (4.1 mmol/L)
  • HDL Cholesterol < 40 mg/dL (1.0 mmol/L)
  • Triglycerides > 200 mg/dL (2.3 mmol/L)

    You should check your cholesterol at least once every 5 years as a regular check-up if you are 20 years of age or older. Your cholesterol should be within the desirable range. If your cholesterol numbers are abnormal, you need to device a plan to get them where they need to be and therefore prevent a heart attack or a stroke in the future.
