Heart Attack symptoms and warning signs


Recognizing heart attack symptoms and warning signs and seeking immediate medical care is very important. It could save your life!

The American Heart Association lists the following symptoms and warnings signs.

  • Chest pressure – uncomfortable chest
    pressure accompanied by fullness,
    squeezing, or pain in the center of the
    chest lasting more than few minutes.

  • Pain radiating to the neck, jaw, back or
    down both arms. This pain may be mild or
    excruciating.

  • Shortness of breath

  • Anxiety or nervousness

  • Nausea

  • Sweating – this can be experienced in
    the form of cold sweats.

  • Light headedness

According to the American Heart Association, chest pressure or pain may happen alone or may be experienced with some of the above signs and symptoms. Call 911 immediately if you have one or more of these symptoms because you may be having heart attack (myocardial infarction or MI). It requires immediate medical treatment. It is best if you get to the Hospital by ambulance because you will get treated immediately.

If for some reason you cannot call 911, make sure you have someone drive you to the Hospital. It will be safer for you.

Also make sure you have your medical history handy, drug allergies, and current medications you are taking including over the counter. This will help you get the best treatment possible.
